Psychotherapy and counselling can help individuals gain self-awareness and facilitate personal growth. Seeking psychotherapy can be a daunting task, and I’d like to acknowledge that you have taken a big step by reviewing potential therapists to meet with. The goal of my practice is to facilitate conversations with you in order to find your unique way of processing your experiences and the feelings that accompany them. The scope of my practice includes working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, as well as a specialization in perinatal mental health. As a parent, I understand the many struggles that accompany bringing a baby into your home. This immense transition requires care and support to help ensure balance in the household. I offer an inviting space for all clients to share their innermost concerns and feelings. My theoretical approach is empathic, compassionate, and non-judgmental with a strong client focused approach. I utilize a variety of techniques that stem from positive psychology, motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, solution focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, as well as acceptance and commitment therapy and EMDR. I believe it is my role to help clients uncover the strength they hold within and take strides towards becoming the person they would like to be.If you believe that you or someone you know could benefit from working with me, please contact me via email at phaedra@calmwaterspsychotherapy.ca

Are you feeling stuck in your life and not sure what steps to take? Do you ever feel overwhelmed and anxious by every day issues? Feeling like you have no where to turn to deal with your challenges? Working together I can support you in finding the right path for you, step by step. In a comfortable, non judgmental environment, we will find the solutions that are meaningful to your life, and help you get where you want to be. I believe that even the smallest changes can have a great impact on mental health and quality of life. I'm a registered social worker and have spent almost two decades providing emotional support to clients. I believe that we all have the capacity to find our own solutions; sometimes we just need a helping hand getting there. I work with Mindfulness, CBT, ACT and Narrative approaches, tailoring to each individual's needs and experiences. I support clients from various cultural backgrounds and ethnicities that may be experiencing challenges in adapting to new environments and expectations. I also work extensively with survivors of trauma, and those connected to the LGBTQ2+ community. Please email to set up a free consultation

Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or burned out? Maybe anxiety is taking up too much space, or you’re navigating a major life or career transition. You don’t have to face it alone. I support adults with anxiety, chronic stress, health worries, burnout, and performance pressure—in work, sport, or music. My approach is grounded, collaborative, and warm. Therapy doesn’t have to be stuffy—humour, creativity, and curiosity are welcome here.
In our work together, we’ll clarify what matters most to you, and help you respond more flexibly to difficult thoughts and emotions — so they no longer run the show. I integrate evidence-based approaches (including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and offer the option of using music in therapy for clients who find it meaningful or expressive.
I’m supervised by Dr Julie Beaulac, Clinical Health & Rehab Psychologist. I work with clients virtually across Ontario, by secure video or phone. Reach out with any questions or to book a consult — I’d be glad to hear from you.

When we experience chronic and severe life stressors, it is not uncommon for our lives to unravel. Sometimes we find ourselves struggling with everyday tasks, becoming easily overwhelmed or feeling disconnected from our life, goals and loved ones. Together we can find healthy perceptions of yourself and strengthen that feeling of connection.
Ultimately, the goal of my practice is to facilitate conversations with you in order to identify the ways in which you uniquely process your experiences and how we can collaboratively move forward. From there we can work on identifying tools and strategies to enhance your quality of life and achieve your greater goals.
As a therapist, I value your lived experiences and work from a systemic approach. I work using a client centered approach, focusing on creating a non-judgemental and collaborative space with adults. I am particularly passionate about mental health in people of colour and the issues of marginalization, discrimination and racism. I work with individuals on issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationships, stress, major life-changes and burnout.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

Dealing with life’s challenges can sometimes be overwhelming, leaving us confused and emotionally raw. The simplest tasks become monumental; we become easily frustrated and feel disconnected from friends and family.
As a therapist, I believe each person is the expert in their own journey and I support this by creating a collaborative and safe space to share feelings and thoughts. I work with adults from all walks of life on issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationships, stress, and major life-changes. I can help you get from stuck to thriving.
I work using a humanistic approach including a psychodynamic method as well as attachment theory, experiential, narrative, solution-focused and Gestalt techniques.
For those in the health care sector, my experiences in my past career as a midwife have given me insight into the effects of on-call and shift work lifestyles and how they challenge well-being. I am also familiar with health care burnout and compassion fatigue that results from the constant emotional compartmentalization during stressful health care events.
This same midwifery experience has also provided me with an inside understanding of the challenges pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period place on families and individuals entering parenthood. Managing emotions that result from experiences such a difficult pregnancy, a birth that did not go as planned, or an exhausting postpartum can sometimes seem overwhelming. .
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I received my undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Midwifery at Laurentian University. My practice is supervised by Phaedra Gryz, Registered Psychotherapist, and Zara Canteenwalla, Registered Social Worker.

When life throws us into cycles of stress or instability, it’s easy to lose sight of who we are and what we need to feel grounded. Whether you're navigating difficult emotions, past experiences, or the weight of everyday life, I believe healing starts with feeling seen, heard, and supported.
My work is grounded in culturally informed practices and trauma-informed care. I am especially passionate about supporting individuals from under-represented groups, and I bring an anti-oppressive lens to my work by recognizing how systems of marginalization, discrimination, and racism impact mental health and well-being. I support a diverse population of clients working through challenges including anxiety, depression and major life transitions.
I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. My professional background includes over eight years of experience supporting individuals facing housing instability, mental health challenges, addictions, and systemic barriers through my work with organizations such as the City of Ottawa, Shepherds of Good Hope, and the Salvation Army. I’ve also had the privilege of contributing to mental health and developmental psychology research, including sleep studies and autism-focused therapies.
My practice is supervised by Phaedra Gryz, Registered Psychotherapist, and Zara Canteenwalla, Registered Social Worker, as I continue to grow in this field.
If you feel like we may be a good fit, I’d be honoured to walk alongside you in your journey. Please don’t hesitate to contact me at jkay.psychotherapy@gmail.com..
