Guergana Mileva, BScH, MSc, PhD, MEd (in progress) Psychotherapy Intern

My name is Guergana but please call me “Gary”! I am currently working on completing my MEd in Counselling Psychology at the University of Ottawa and am excited to be doing my practicum at Calm Waters Psychotherapy. I have a wealth of knowledge about the human brain and psychology through my education in Biology (BSc and MSc) and Psychology (PhD, MEd). In addition, I am currently a sessional professor in Psychology where I have taught a variety of classes.

I understand the difficulties that arise during the perinatal period (before, during, and after birth) and am very passionate about helping those who are struggling during this time. The perinatal period can be one of the most difficult transitions in your life! If you are having trouble with your fertility journey, navigating through pregnancy, role transitions to parenthood, postpartum relationship changes, anxiety, and depression, I would love to help.

In addition, I work with individuals who struggle with work/life balance, workplace stress, motivation, burnout, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. The adage ‘Everyone is going through something’ is so true, and I would love to be of help and support through the process.

I employ a collaborative, empathic, and client focused approach. I am non-judgemental and like to use a variety of different theoretical approaches that are catered to each individual client. More specifically, I am interested in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), solution focused therapy, and narrative therapy.

I am available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for virtual sessions. To make an appointment please contact me at milevapsychotherapy@gmail.com or call me at 1-613-604-9712. I look forward to hearing from you.
